Savar’s Ashu because of lack of license and other documents Savar Upazila Health Department sealed the Sreepur Popular Hospital in Liya on September 1. However, the operation of that hospital is still going on normally. Doctors are sitting and watching patients.
However, the hospital authorities claimed that it was closed due to shortage of some documents. All the documents have already been submitted to the upazila after getting the registration number. A delegation from the Health Department then opened the hospital and inspected it for the final licence. The hospital has been kept open for the purpose of inspection of all the concerned institutions and for the inspection team to come and verify that there are enough doctors, nurses and other things in order. However, no medical services are being carried out.
However, today on Friday afternoon, the hospital was visited, 25 to 30 patients are waiting to receive medical care. Many are going out with treatment.
Garment worker Ankhi Akhtar (22) was returning home with her husband after treatment at the hospital. He told Prothom Alo, ‘I was coming to see the doctor. The show is over, so I’m leaving. Had to come to the doctor for a checkup.
When asked about this, the director of the hospital claimed that medical services are not being provided. Shariful Islam In Prothom Alo, he said, ‘We are trying to run the hospital in a proper manner. Some patients come in who are already known to the doctors here. It is not possible to return them considering the humanitarian aspect. Doctors personally advise them. The operation of the hospital has been completely stopped.
When asked about this, Savar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Sayemul Huda said, “The hospital authority has applied for approval after the seal was sealed. We are told that they are open for inspection by various departments in view of the application. However, there is no opportunity to provide medical care before final approval. There have been allegations that medical services are being provided there. Now the matter will be reported to the upazila executive officer and a request will be made to take action against them.
